Love Letters For "M"

"What are little boys made of?
What are little boys made of?
Slugs and snails
And puppy-dogs' tails,
That's what little boys are made of

What are little girls made of?
What are little girls made of?
Sugar and spice
And everything nice,
That's what little girls are made of"

As a Playschool teacher I hear things.

Children can be rather amusing and the way they see the world is quite simple. They wonder about things and listen carefully ... they learn from anything and everything. Because teachers are sworn to secrecy by so many laws, it's rather sad that some of these stories and tales children tell are left untold. Only the teachers know about them.

Two stories about boys and their thoughts of Love and Kissing. And one story about a girl that thinks too much. Ages are 5 to 7.

Lunch table today. We try to eat without too much silliness and nonsense but when you have something in mind you just want to talk about it.

"Jenni, I saw my mum and dad kissing one day and guess what I said? I said, Oh dear ... Is that really necessary. I don't think it is."
Other boy commented: "Well when there is kissing in my house .. I just say TERRIBLE and jump in between."

Then I asked that isn't it nice that mommies and daddies kiss sometimes and they said NO, it's rather unpleasant and they jump in and try to wrestle instead.

I was having really hard time keeping my poker face.

Later in the afternoon, a boy and I were talking about summer and summer love.

I asked this boy if he had a girlfriend.

"Yes I do have one. It's "M."

- I see...

"Yea .. but "M" has others as well. "T" loves her .. and so does "K" ... "S" wrote her a love letter and so did "C" ..

- Oh ...

"Well, we are going to be in same class for school so I think she is going to be my girlfriend then. Luckily I also like football and so do the other boys. Hey, do you think we can play the game again where you ask about things and I tell you if I'd like to do them or not? By the way, Imma eat tons of ice cream in the summer. And go swimming .. and maybe go fishing as well... "

Boys ♥ They are just what they are. The love as fiercely as women do but don't always understand why there has to be so much cuddling and kissing. Growing up with brothers and one wild sister .. I must say I have a soft spot for boys, just because they are so easy. Girls are do different from early on, they grow up so fast. Even though they play and wonder like boys do till they are 14, their games are so much more serious. They play house and dress up. They compete against each other after they turn three and they ask a lot of questions right after they learn to speak.

Today one of the girls, 6 years was looking for a mummy and child very intensively and tenderly. I asked her is she liked babies. "Yes, very much" .. I asked then if she'd like to have a baby sister or brother one day and a very long sigh came out "It would be nice yes. To have someone to care for. What about you Jenni? Do you like children? Would you like to have some?" I said that yes I like children and I don't know yet if I want any of my own. She continued with: "Do you live alone?" - Yes "Oh, and you are never lonely?" - I'am sometimes but most of the time I'm not. "I see ... " she said a looked at me for a long while. Who knows what she was thinking? Pity or admiration? Most definitely there was wonder.

This discussion was interrupted by "JEENNNIII HE IS NOT LETTINIG ME PLAY WITH THE BALL AT ALL"

Sigh. Yea, boys.

Jenni
